The concept of "aromaticity" has continuously evolved throughout history. Its effects manifest in observable ways, remaining a cornerstone in chemistry for describing benzene-like systems. However, the concept is not directly quantifiable and is subject to debate and diverse interpretations. Various theoretical approaches offer distinct perspectives, and a fully standardized definition of aromaticity has remained elusive.
The Aromaticity 2025 conference tackles this by bringing together experts with expertise in both experimental and theoretical backgrounds. This gathering seeks to establish the foundation for a more standardized definition of aromaticity, potentially leading to its official recognition by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
On behalf of the Aromaticity 2025 Organizing Committee, we extend a special invitation to chemists from across the globe to attend this unique and exciting event in Merida, Mexico, from January 27 to 30, 2025.
