The reverse of the Jamestown 400th Anniversary Commemorative Gold Five Dollar Coin, depicted in this file, was designed by Susan Gamble of the Artistic Infusion Program (source). For reasons explained at Commons:Determining if U.S. coins are free to use, Artistic Infusion Program artists are contractors and the rights to their designs are transferred to the mint, so this coin design is non-free.  Mysterymanblue  08:50, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: The WP article lists the designer for this coin as John Mercanti who was Chief Engraver, thus a mint employee, making this PD. --Gbawden (talk) 10:18, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Same rationale as the previous DR; the closer incorrectly read the Wikipedia page for this coin. As the article notes, the obverse and the reverse were designed by two different people: John Mercanti, a mint employee designed the obverse, while Susan Gamble, a contractor, designed the reverse. Only the reverse is depicted in this file, and therefore it is non-free as it was designed by Susan Gamble.  Mysterymanblue  08:36, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: per nomination. Susan Gamble died in 2015, so the file can be restored in 2086 (the photograph as such coming from the Mint and therefore being in the PD). --Rosenzweig τ 20:26, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
