Selecting, testing, migrating, and implementing a new database to replace a proprietary, licensed version of open source software is a difficult task. Percona’s Solutions Engineering team will share its proven methodology through real-world success stories with deep insight into objectives, challenges, architectures, migration paths, and future vision enjoyed by those who have migrated to open source software to break free of Enterprise licensed versions. This talk will focus on specific success stories in the real-world to share insights gained.
2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.  A New Way to Provision Databases on Kubernetes
Discover the advantages and optimal use cases of storage strategies for cloud-native databases, emphasizing scalability and cost-efficiency. Kate provides a comprehensive analysis of the pros and cons of utilizing Kubernetes for database management and introduces an innovative approach to automated database provisioning with the open-source project Percona Everest. Whether you're a developer or an IT manager, you'll find valuable insights for your database management strategy!

Running MongoDB in the Cloud: How to Reduce Infrastructure Costs Using Open Source Components and Kubernetes
The cost of running a growing enterprise-grade MongoDB environment can quickly get out of control. Costs can rapidly increase to cope with your scaling requirements, regardless of whether you are running a DBaaS or on-premise solution. To make things worse, there are multiple traps awaiting. Choices that seem to be initially not important may make a significant difference at scale. In this session, we'll have a look at typical reasons for this and discuss efficient alternatives built on open source and cloud-native technologies.

4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Easing Your Upgrade to MySQL 8

Major MySQL upgrades can be challenging. Poorly planned and tested upgrades can break applications, render them inoperable, or cause significant performance issues. In this session, Dimitri Vanoverbeke, Senior Solutions Engineer, will share best practices for upgrading to MySQL 8. He’ll also discuss how to best support your current End of Life (EOL) software while you plan your move.
4:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL: Enabling Highly Available, Secure, Cloud-Native Deployments

When using PostgreSQL for mission-critical applications, high availability, data-at-rest encryption, and a cloud-native approach are essential. While the open source PostgreSQL ecosystem provides various, sometimes conflicting, options for high availability and cloud-native setups, support for open source data-at-rest encryption is limited.

In this session, we’ll explore how Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL delivers enterprise-level high availability in cloud-native environments using only open source components. We’ll also show how data-at-rest encryption is planned into the roadmap for Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL.

5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
