Title III is excited to announce the grand opening of the DE Classroom on the second floor of the library. This classroom was the vision of the Keleka`a Ho`ona`auao: Education Delivered Through Distance Education Title III grant and was built to support University Center and distance learning students. Please join us on Tuesday, February 13th, from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. to check out the new space and meet the DE Classroom Tech, Shannon Pabo!

Free Period Underwear Distribution

Thanks to the efforts of Kauaʻi. Period, we have received hundreds of pairs of period underwear in ALL different sizes. Hale Malama will be giving out free packs of 5 reusable period underwear and reusable pads (in your size) to any student who has a period from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Student Life Center. Can't make it on Valentine's Day? Stay tuned for upcoming dates for more distributions open to students, staff and faculty. Mahalo for being a part of ending period poverty on Kauaʻi!

Welcome - Shannon Pabo

Born and raised on the island of Kaua`i, Shannon steps into her new role as the Distance Education Classroom Technician under the Title III Keleka`a Ho`ona`auao grant. After servings as an IT student worker, she first joined the Kaua`i CC `ohana working under Cognition Learning Center, providing innovative hand-on STEM learning to our island community. On her downtime, she enjoys anything creative - drawing, painting, and digital media to name a few.

Coming soon! Applications for Cohort 15 of the Wai'ale'ale Project will open the week of February 12, 2024. Please encourage high school seniors or Kaua'i adults to apply who are looking to have an "amazing" first year of college. Wai'ale'ale Project offers scholarships and academic support to participants who would like to take a few classes, or complete an entire academic program to receive Certificates and Associate Degrees. Food Truck on Campus


Our college is pleased to announce a new food option on campus. The Village Kauai food truck will be on the Campus Center Walkway from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday. Please stop by to try some empanadas, hotdogs, or fresh smoothies!

Hale Mālama Services


Aloha KCC students! We recognize that the excitement of pursuing your academic goals can also be filled with stress and anxiety as you navigate other things in your life (ie., family, kids, employment, relationships, current events, etc.). As part of our 'ohana, we want to remind you that your overall well-being and quality of life are important and we have FREE resources on campus to support you. Hale Mālama offers a safe and caring environment to "talk story" through individual counseling, group settings and therapeutic art therapy. We also offer support through our food pantry, case management services and can connect you to any community resources that you may need. We are here to help you build a solid foundation that allows you to focus your energy on your academics and to fully embrace your college experience. We are located in the LRC and offer both in person and zoom options. To speak to one of our mental health counselors you can schedule an appointment on star balance here, by phone at 808-245-8314, or email at Hmalama@hawaii.edu. You are also more than welcome to just walk in and speak to any of our staff.

Community

Hui Maka`ainana o Makana Workday


Community work days are held every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Their next work day is on February 17. Please email info@huimakaainanaomakana.org to let them know if you will attend, how many in your group and what time you will arrive. At the end of the work day, a potluck lunch will be held. Please bring a dish to share if you would like to participate.

Mālama Hulēʻia Community Workday



Community work days are held every 3rd Saturday. Their next work day will be on February 17 from 8 a.m. - noon with a potluck lunch to follow. Check out their Instagram @malama_huleia for registration information.
