The NSF Distributed Research Experiences for Undergraduates (DREU) program offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to immerse themselves in computing research and gain firsthand experience working with faculty mentors at institutions across the U.S. This 10-week summer program helps students explore what graduate school is like, while mentors support the next generation of researchers and promote diversity within the computing field.
Program Mission
NSF DREU aims to increase diversity in computing by engaging students from underrepresented groups early in their academic careers. The program provides research experiences that foster participants’ interest in advanced study and build a more inclusive community of computing professionals.
DREU participants are encouraged to develop their skills, explore potential career paths, and form meaningful relationships with faculty and graduate students.
