Antonis Argyros
Antonis Argyros (Αντώνης Αργυρός) is a Professor of Computer Science at the Computer Science Department (CSD), University of Crete (UoC) and a researcher at the Institute of Computer Science (ICS), Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. He received a B.Sc. degree (1989), an M.Sc. degree (1992) and a Ph.D. degree (1996) in Computer Science from CSD-UoC. He has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Computational Vision and Active Perception Laboratory at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. His current research interests fall in the areas of computer vision and pattern recognition, 3D reconstruction, image motion and tracking, with emphasis on human body pose and shape analysis and on the recognition of human activities and gestures. He is also interested in applications of computer vision in the fields of robotics and smart environments. In these areas, he has published more than 250 papers in scientific journals and refereed conference proceedings, and has delivered more than 60 invited and keynote talks in international events, universities and research centres.
