This study reports on the MMI performance of applicants to an undergraduate medical programme, and its association with interviewers’ subjective perception of whether the applicant was a ‘concern’. Method: An MMI of ten stations, each of six minutes plus two minutes reading time, and assessed by one interviewer, was administered to applicants. Each station measured a specific non-cognitive attribute. Scores at each station were standardised to a maximum of ten points. At each station, interviewers were asked to indicate whether they had any concern about the applicant. Information on sex, race and academic ability were also collected. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s α. ANOVA was used to test the association between MMI scores and being a concern.
