Sylvia He
Sylvia He is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Resource Management and Director of the Urban Studies Programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She is interested in finding solutions to sustainable transport development through spatial planning and policy analysis. She obtained her BS in Geography from Sun Yet-sen University, MA in Geography from McMaster University, MA in Economics from University of Southern California (USC). She holds a PhD in Policy, Planning and Development from the Price School of Public Policy at USC, where she was awarded the John Dyckman Award for Best Dissertation in Planning. Before joining CUHK, she worked as a Postdoc Fellow at the Technical University of Munich.
Sylvia’s research interests include transport planning and policy, travel behavior, transit-oriented development, electric vehicle, new towns, resource-based cities and urban studies.

She has been actively serving professional communities. She is Board Member of the International Association for China Planning (IACP), the World Society for Transport and Land Use Research (WSTLUR), and the Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies (HKSTS). In 2021, she was elected as Fellow of the Regional Studies Association (RSA).
Sylvia's research has been funded by both local and international funding agencies and organizations, such as GRF, PPR, UGC/DAAD, Regional Studies Association (RSA), Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), US Department of Transportation, and BMW Group Institute for Mobility Research (ifmo).
