Papiro de Ebers (1550 aC): enfermedades internas. Habla de hematuria que es la manifestación de la esquitosomiasis por Schistosoma baematobium. Papiro de Berlin (1550 aC): enfermedades en los niños. Papiro Chester Beatty (1300 aC): enfermedades digestivas. Papiro Anastasio: "quinto gusano que pica el diente" responsable de caries dentales. El emperador Claudio recomendaba ahumar al gusano con narcótico "beleño". Medico francés Nicholas Andry "doctor gusano": Tenia y Taenia saginata. Edad media: "Conjuro de Tegensee para los gusanos" Asociaciones biológicas Vegetales: únicos seres vivos capaces de sintetizar sus propios componentes. Huésped intermediario: tiene formas larvarias en desarrollo o en el cual se reproduce de manera sexual. Huésped paraténico/transportador: tiene formas larvarias que no se desarrollan. Reservorio: hombre, animal, planta o materia inanimada que contenga parásitos que puedan vivir y multiplicarse en ellos y ser fuente de infección. Portador: estado de adaptación animal donde el patógeno vive en el huésped sin dañar. Vector: animal invertebrado que transmite el parasito al huésped por picadura o por tocar alimentos, etc. Puede ser mecánico (mosca) o biológico (los parasitos se multiplican en ellos (mosquito)). Infección parasitaria: huésped con parásitos que no le causan enfermedad.
