My first book, FUGITIVE VISION, investigated the alternative dynamics of meaning produced by the visual and visuality in slave narratives. I then had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing scholars of autobiography studies and comics studies in editing the collection GRAPHIC SUBJECTS.My latest book is titled, READING LESSONS IN SEEING: Mirrors, Masks, and Mazes in the Autobiographical Graphic Novel from University Press of Mississippi.  I've written articles on various topics related to these interests for such journals as American Literature, College Literature, Modern Fiction Studies, MELUS, African American Review, and Journal of Modern Literature.Check out my blog at http://michaelalexanderchaney.com/
