The problematics of identity is built around male as superior and female as inferior beings. The changing scenario of the universe defines human beings in terms of neoliberalism, globalization, deconstruction of ideas and images, and, above all the way of interpreting everything from a post-structuralist approach has brought forth new ideas and images in the rubric of discourse analysis. Body and physical fitness have always been an issue of debate and discussion since it engages an arena of women’s participation in various physical fitness activities and games. The present paper attempts to focus on the world of games and sports as a site where established values about gender have been contested, resisted, negotiated and transformed through the analysis of selected films. Popular culture has always been a powerful medium to challenge the myth that strong and powerful women are not real. The paper will attempt to take up this terrain to focus on women engaged in the world of games and sports to show the present scenario of women’s games and sports in the Indian context.

Perspectives on disability undergo transformation through considerations of structure, genre, and narrative form. These transformations challenge established theoretical paradigms in literary criticism, offering a fresh and provocative approach to analyzing diverse literary works. She was more popular as Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore's creative muse than Jyotirindranath's wife. The article captures some of the significant incidents of her life, her influence on Rabindranath , her relationship to the members of Tagore family, her remarkable qualities including acting. She fulfilled all the parameters of an ideal woman (by the patriarchal norms) but never got the acclamation from the members except Rabindranath Tagore. Her sudden demise has raised lots of debates and discussions to the readers. The article tries to explore certain avenues of her life to justify that a woman of her worth is not supposed to suffer such consequences. It also explores the probable reasons of the invisibility of such women from the dominant discourse.

Colonial Bengal witnessed the rise of a class of women who were culturally, intellectually nourished and educated and they took up the challenges posed by the orthodox society and went on to fulfill their wishes, nevertheless. They began their journey into the world of education with a warning that if a woman be educated her husband would die. The rest is history. Womens health and sanitation is a much-neglected factor still visible in our society. In colonial Bengal the situation was much worse because of the social stigma of taking women patients to male doctors and women were also forbidden to study medicine. In the prejudice-stricken society where the birth of a girl was not welcomed by blowing the conch shell but with wails, it was quite unthinkable to dream of womens' education and that also in the field of medicine. In the present paper I explore the journey of a few selected women in colonial Bengal in the sphere of medicine and health. I attempt to explore the shift of womens' journey from home to hospital and their involvement in both private and public spaces and spheres.

The history of colonialism has occupied a large space in portraying the displacement of individuals across cultures. It has left a wound in everybody's heart since driving an individual away from his/her native land is synonymous to deprive him/her of the right to breathe. Partition narratives form the part and parcel of displacement as a separate branch of studies. When a nation is fractured the trauma of losing one's land creates a wound in the psyche and it has been contextualized

It works as a mirror in which the human beings could see the reflection of their lives. Identity construction is one of the significant issues in literature. Without identity construction one cannot survive. Our society is made of paradoxes. The world is in a state of flux and we are going through a crucial phase. It is a challenging task to build up one's identity and the task is more challenging for someone who does not fit into the mainstream society. The present paper attempts to show the identity construction of a transgender by analyzing the novel called The Truth About Me. My paper also attempts to show the challenges faced by the protagonist, her struggle to get involved into this mainstream society and above all, her attempt to construct identity of her own.

It is the patriarchal social structure which has subjugated the status of women and it is one of the challenging tasks to question the norms to build up a comfort zone where women would get the opportunity not only to read and write but also to express them as well. This paper intends to assess the role of Savitribai Phule and Muktabai Salve as educators in 19th century Maharashtra. Both of them not only demanded equal educational rights for women and girls and set up schools, they also addressed the 'untouchability' issue which in the 1990s took the shape of Dalit Feminist Movement. The caste question during Savitribai's time has a close link with the same issue in the 20th and 21st centuries as well.

This book aims to identify the woman protagonists of Shashi Deshpande to catch them at the quintessential moments of their lives. Such moments are quite known to every woman in the heteronormative system. Anxiety, dilemma and all other hazards of a woman's life is reflected through the characterization of the protagonists. What is crucial is that in spite of being empowered, women are still the victims of patriarchal oppression. The universalization of women's problems is what the book aims to critique and with that objective the book proposes to find a way out for those who come under the notion of 'women', 'native', therefore, the 'other'. Lastly, the way of engendering the nation has been associated with 'her' stories which would help the researchers to explore their yet to be told narratives.

Sensitization has been a practice done across cultures in various academic and non-academic institutions to let people know about various identities who cannot simply be addressed as ‘cis male’, ‘cis female’, ‘trans man’, ‘trans woman’ and other such terms. The word ‘engender’ can play a diversified role to develop an unbiased attitude of society towards the identities. The art of humanity is not restricted to heteronormative trope, it is quite dynamic and diversified a concept. Queer identities are part and parcel of the discourse although the vulnerability of the society towards them is noticeable. The politics of identity has always been the part and parcel of Queer discourse. The present paper will attempt to explore the role of the academic in terms of queering the art of humanity through visual representation with a preoccupation to visual queer art.
