Joel Corry

From: London

DJ style: “House, tech-house and techno.”

Best known for: “‘Head & Heart feat. MNEK’.”

Joel Corry has been “around the world and back” once again in 2024. The house and tech mainstay has toured Australia, Asia, America and Europe while also holding down a summer residency in Ibiza, and dropping a few records. In amongst them have been collaborations with Robin Schulz and Jax Jones, and official remixes for Calvin Harris, Marshmello, The Chainsmokers and Kygo. “This year I also improved the production in my shows,” says Joel. “And I learnt more about the visual aspect of live performance. With a bigger team on tour, I can deliver the type of shows I always wanted.”

2024 highlights include a set at Tomorrowland, gigs in new countries like China and Singapore, and playing at Ushuaïa on his birthday. All of this fed back into his work in the studio, as has a love of the minimal tech-house of producers such as Chris Stussy, Josh Baker and Rossi. “Seeing these DJs play in Ibiza during summer has been inspiring. Being a raver at heart, it has been good to get some time back on the dancefloor,” he says.

Favourite tune of 2024?

“Sharam ‘Party All The Time (Adam Beyer & Layton Giordani remix)’.”

Rising star DJ/producer of 2024?

“Josh Baker.”

Could DJs do more to ensure that producers are fairly paid for their art?

“DJs should not be ripping tracks for free off SoundCloud, YouTube etc. Unless the music is received via promo, then DJs should pay for the records they are downloading and playing.”

Should phones be banned on the dancefloor?

“I love playing at no-phone events and have enjoyed attending them as a raver. I do not think phones should be banned in general, however I think the rise of no-phone events is exciting and gives ravers an option to have that experience.”

A.I. - friend or foe?

“Friend! I love when technology advances and evolves, and we are only at the beginning of what is possible with A.I.”

What’s your lucky charm?

“I was given a two-dollar American bill on tour a few years ago and I have kept it in my headphone case ever since.”
