      In choosing a brokerage firm for your online investing, should you choose the one with the lowest commission per trade__?__ Perhaps not. It depends on your characteristics as an investor, the characteristics of the brokerage firms you are considering, and the kinds of transactions you expect to execute. Actual costs are not just direct, observable transaction costs, but also include significant indirect costs. This article explains the issues and describes an investor choice process for selecting an online broker. It may be useful <__?__Pub Caret>either as a summary for a knowledgeable investor or as an introduction to the choice process for a neophyte.
