Obviously, transportation network is put intolerable pressure by a large number of traffic volume concentrating to Ro-Pax terminal to cause traffic congestion. Therefore, it is an important task to explore the feasibility of Ro-Pax terminal construction and carry out the traffic impact analysis (TIA) and assessment. This paper predicts and assign the traffic volume into road network to simulate the traffic situation of the main roads from macro perspectives. And then we quantify and analyzes the impact of building Ro-Pax terminal on intercity and adjacent road traffic to identify the vulnerable areas and intersections. Finally, this paper proposes some reasonable suggestions on the improvement of road network structure. The performance assessment of improvement schemes can provide decision support for selecting the best one according to different requirements. The research can improve the traffic accessibility so that the Ro-Pax terminal has a good traffic environment and better play its role as a passenger transportation center.

However, the capacity of this terminal may be limited by the long entrance channel and traffic rules for LNG transportation. Therefore, to evaluate the capacity of Liuheng LNG terminal, we establish an agent-based microscopic simulation model for ship operation (AMic-SMSO) to simulate the whole process of ship operation in and out of a port. We undertake a series of experiment scenarios to identify the bottlenecks and assess the throughput capability by analyzing waiting times, berth occupancies, and explore the effect of modifying the traffic rules on these indicators. The results show that this simulation model is a useful tool in determining whether traffic rules works well actually, especially for LNG terminal berth configuration plan.

Therefore, Automatic Identification System (AIS) is utilized to get the vessel behaviors. In this article, we develop the vessel behavior analysis framework based on JPPF parallel processing framework to get spatial-temporal characteristics of vessel behavior in costal waterways. At last, 1 billion AIS data from Tianjin port in China are input into the proposed framework and vessel behaviors can be obtained, which can serve for vessel traffic simulation, safe navigation of vessel, supervision of the maritime sector and macroscopic dispatch of the country.

To support the design and management of ACTs, we propose a 3D simulation model to simulate the discharging and loading operation based on agent-based simulation and microscopic traffic simulation on the AnyLogic software. Finally, we apply the proposed simulation model in a real case to certify that this model can provide decision support for the design and management of ACTs with DTQC/AGV/ARMG.

Therefore, a variable fuzzy sets model for is proposed in this paper. In this model, the interval-number-based relative deference degree function is used to determine the relative degree and global relative membership degree firstly. Then the category eigenvalue is used to reflect the statement of urban public traffic. Finally, a case study is given by the proposed model. The results show that the proposed model is a reasonable and effective method for multi-criteria and interval-number evaluation problems.

By analyzing the operation system of container terminals and realizing its complexity, this paper established a simulation model of container terminals to imitate the realistic operation process and determine the throughput capacity of a container berth under various influence factors. The simulation results can be used by decision makers to choose appropriate throughput capacity under required service level and decide the optimal number of berths arranged continuously. The simulation model will be beneficial to guide the construction of container terminals.

However, for a Ro-Pax terminal, the trips of passengers and vehicles are driven by the arrival and departure of Ro-Pax ships, which is different from the conventional trip generation model. Therefore, we propose a simulation-based trip generation estimation for a Ro-Pax terminal considering the uncertainty of the passengers and vehicles’ arrivals. A simulation of the operation in the Ro-Pax terminal is established to simulate the Ro-Pax terminal operations with passengers and vehicles. Finally, taking the trip generation of a Ro-Pax terminal as an example, the results indicate that the proposed simulationbased estimation model is feasible and effective to evaluate the trip generation and attraction caused by the Ro-Pax terminal project.

This paper aims to investigate the effects of various real-time yard crane dispatching strategies on operational cost and gross crane rate (GCR) for nontransshipment container terminals. A general cost estimation model is introduced to incorporate the detailed costs incurred during container handling process within terminal area. The formulas of container handling related parameters are mathematically derived to validate the simulation model. Results reveal that the common nearest truck first served strategy yields the lowest operational cost but the lowest GCR. On the other hand, earliest YT strategy achieves the highest GCR at the expense of higher operational cost with more vessel calls, while nearest YT strategy produces the highest GCR and is the second economical with fewer vessel calls. Under any of the proposed yard crane dispatching strategies, the strategy that separately stacks import and export contain...

The main goal of this paper is to address an inspection investment planning problem for the international container terminal at Dalian Port using the simulation method. Considering various types of container ships and flexible container truck scheduling and routing, we propose a framework combining an Arena-based simulation model with a developed optimization procedure. Two components of this integrated framework realize information communication via the interface of Visual Basic for Applications. Under the potential inspection protocol, simulation experiments are designed and carried out for investigating the operational impact of container inspections for different allocations of inspection resources at the terminal, including the turnaround time of external trucks, the number of trucks waiting in the inspection area, etc. This pa...
