Abstract

We derive general expressions of pulse propagation time on warped membrane to analyze the cell shape influence on signal processing. In particular, we consider round (Purkinje-like) and cone (pyramidal) cell shapes to compare the theoretical results with computational ones obtained by the two-dimensional membrane potential computation. We also take into account the channel type varieties (Squid, CA3). It is found that membrane-expanding parts have large effects on the propagation time and velocity.
