Abstract
This paper discusses some modern aspects in the field of CAD systems. The reader's attention is drawn to problems concerning with graphical information processing and their impact on the development of a new generation of CAD systems. These new trends reflect the changes in the design technology in the last few years. Design technology changes stem mostly from the growing necessity for intensive communication and collaboration among members of a design team. This requires to solve problems like storage and transmission of graphical information. Other important problems to discuss are properties of modern solid modellers. This requires to estabilish criteria for evaluation of solid modellers. All these topics will be discussed in the following text.
