Abstract
Modern China was an important period in the development and sublimation of patriotism, and studying modern Chinese History is conducive to grasping the essence of patriotism. However, for a long time, teaching modern Chinese History in universities has focused on historical chronology. Still, there is an apparent lack of knowledge of historical space, and the role of maps in history teaching has yet to be fully exploited. In the face of this dilemma, this paper is based on multimodal learning theory and is developed using GEOVIS Earth. With the help of panoramic technology and 3D real-world modeling, we have designed a V.R. teaching tool that can be used in a desktop environment - the VR “Time-Space” interactive map teaching system. Through tests and interviews, we found that this system is more advantageous than the traditional lecture-based teaching method, which allows students to form an overall layout of historical events in their minds and enhances their interest and effectiveness in learning modern Chinese History.
