Abstract
Very often, students lack of understanding and motivation for formal concepts like programming, modelling, mathematics, or statistics although these are key skills and very important for disciplines like risk management. In this paper, we present a learning system based on the simple card game High or Low that helps to teach fundamental principles of statistics and risk management. In addition, we provide a computer prognosis to the players. Results show that if students are forced to calculate the likelihood and make the decision which option to choose on their own, the outcome is acceptable. But if a computer generated prognosis is given, a high percentage of students rely on the prognosis even if it is obviously not correct.
