Abstract
The deterministic flows model for computer performance evaluation has been recently suggested [Gele82] as a tool for describing and predicting system performance. It is based on a deterministic and “long-term” description of a computer system ’s job arrival and departure pattern. In this paper, we show how its principal parameters can be identified from practical measurements, and illustrate the method proposed with real data. The parameter identification method is then validated through the predictions offered by the model.
