Abstract

Remote labs are especially important for learning because they bring real results and each experience is unique. On the other hand, lack of immersion is one of the negative aspects of remote labs. This aspect can be solved through the integration of Extended Reality (XR) in remote laboratories. Extended Reality is an umbrella term that includes the concepts of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). This project presents a proposal to integrate aspects of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in remote laboratories, in order to create a reference architecture for ap-plication in future works. The work will be carried out in three stages: state-of-the-art in the use of AR/VR in remote laboratories; development of a virtual/augmented remote lab prototype; evaluation of the prototype developed together with K12 schools. With this work, it is expected to provide an architecture for future researchers and developers interested in integrating Virtual or Augmented Reality in remote laboratories.
