Abstract
The MeDoc Fulltext System is a distributed storage and access system for documents of any format and any structure. Documents stored in the system can be searched for bibliographic attributes or in fulltext. Retrieved documents can be browsed with standard web browsers. Due to accounting issues, access may be restricted to an arbitrary part of the document. To ease the retrieval of documents, it is possible to navigate by formal criteria within the document set. The Fulltext System is an integral part of the MeDoc system, extremely extensible and flexible. Compared with a possible web server based solution, it is more complex but better capable of handling large amounts of heterogeneous data.
