Abstract

This volume collects the research papers, short descriptions of the video presentations, and summaries of the two invited talks, which together constitute the technical proceedings of the 27th Annual ACM Symposium on Computational Geometry (SoCG 2011). The symposium was held on June 13-15, 2011, in Paris, France.

In response to the call for papers, 145 submissions were received. The program committee selected 55 of these after a substantial reviewing process during which the program committee members and many external reviewers spent a large amount of time and effort to reach a decision. The acceptance number is slightly higher than in previous years, hopefully marking the start of a trend to accept more papers at the conference.

The on-line paper submission process, the review process, and the electronic discussion and decision process were all conducted with the aid of the free conference management system EasyChair.

Since the papers in these proceedings are limited to 10 pages, many of them will eventually appear in a longer, more complete form in scientific, refereed journals.

In addition to the technical papers, nine submissions were received in response to the call for video and multimedia submissions. Seven videos, one including a JavaScript demonstration, were accepted for presentation at the symposium; a short paper describing each accepted submission is contained in these proceedings. The web proceedings showcase the revised videos at http://www.computational-geometry.org/SoCG-videos/socg11video/.
