We are proud to host the 17th ACM Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE) conference at the Technion -- Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. We hope you will find this venue a great choice for the conference.
The theme of ITiCSE 2012 is Computing Sciences Education: Legacy, Innovation and Future Trends. Accordingly, the conference offers a variety of opportunities to learn from and interact with colleagues, researchers and professionals from all over the world.
The program consists of invited keynotes, working groups, exhibits, and technical sessions featuring papers, panels, posters, tips, techniques, and student posters.
The three keynotes of ITiCSE 2012 are in conjunction with the Alan Turing Centenary events. The three speakers are: Prof. Michael Rabin, 1976 Turing Award winner, of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Harvard University; Prof. Lenore Blum of Carnegie Mellon University; and Prof. David Harel of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
We accepted 61 excellent papers for presentation from among the 134 papers submitted---an acceptance rate of 45%. Each paper was reviewed by at least four reviewers. Additionally, 4 working groups, 3 panels, 24 posters and 13 tips, techniques, or courseware presentations were accepted.
Here are some details about the conference schedule:
Working groups begin on Sunday, July 1st, and will work in earnest throughout the conference, with a presentation of their preliminary results on Wednesday. The ITiCSE 2012 reception will take place on Monday evening.
Tuesday morning will be devoted to conference excursions. The conference itself will begin on Tuesday afternoon with a keynote, followed by a poster session, two parallel paper presentation sessions, and one panel.
Wednesday and Thursday will each begin with a keynote, followed by three parallel paper presentation sessions, panels, tips, techniques, or courseware presentations.
The conference banquet will take place on Wednesday evening in Acre, where we will enjoy excellent food, lively music, and the breathtaking scenery of Haifa Bay and the walls of the old city of Acre. Israel is a tiny country, and yet it is a place of amazing variety, rich history, varied geography, an ancient background and a modern present, with globally unique contrasts. Haifa, the largest city in northern Israel, is a city of tolerance where people of all religions live together. We hope that ITiCSE 2012 will provide a fitting platform for attendees to become acquainted with the Israel experience.
