Abstract

With great pleasure, we welcome you to the 6th International Workshop on Hot Topics in Planet- Scale Measurement (HotPlanet 2015), co-located this year with the ACM MobiCom 2015 conference in Paris, France. This year's workshop brings together networking, wireless, mobile computing and systems research to understand the challenges ahead and advance the dialogue on topics related to large-scale measurements and big data analytics centered on individuals. It attracted submissions on data collection and analysis, such as knowledge-discovery methodologies, large-scale data mining, and big social media data and location traces analytics, but also on deployment challenges, such as innovative real-world measurement technologies, enduser applications, large-scale deployment experiences, and innovative large-scale mobile sensing systems.

Deriving Cellular Network Structure from Inferred Handovers in a Cellular Association Trace

A cellular association trace consists of timestamped events recording user activity in labeled cells in a cellular network. From such data one can infer that if a user appears in two different cells within a short span of time, that a handover took ...

An Early Look at Multipath TCP Deployment in the Wild

Multipath TCP was standardised in 2013 at IETF. It promises better use of network resources of multi-homed devices for capacity aggregation or seamless fail-over capabilities. The uptake has however been rather slow. Some operating systems support MPTCP ...

Mobile Data Network Analysis Platform

In this paper we present a platform installed inside a French mobile operator's network. This platform is able to capture around 20Gb/s per network probe in the operator's Points Of Presence (POPs), capable of extracting useful information at wire speed,...

L-Graph: A General Graph Analytic System on Continuous Computation

Massive graph analytics have become an important aspect of multiple diverse applications. With the growing scale of real world graphs, efficient execution of entire graph analytics has become a challenging problem. Recently a number of distributed graph ...

Clustering Large Undirected Graphs on External Memory

Traditional graph clustering methods perform poorly on real world power-law graphs out of core. To tackle this challenge, in this paper, we propose an algorithm to cluster such large power law graphs in case of small memory size. In the proposed method, ...

Modeling Social Interactions in Real Work Environments

We present a study for modeling the behavioral patterns of employees and keeping track of the social interactions among people in a real work environment. The main advantage of our approach to capture social interactions in a work environment is the use ...
