Abstract

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 ACM Conference on Security and Privacy in Wireless and Mobile Networks (WiSec'16), which takes place in Darmstadt, Germany. WiSec is the premier venue for research dedicated to all aspects of security and privacy in wireless and mobile networks, their systems, and their applications. In addition to the traditional ACM WiSec topics of physical, link, and network layer security, WiSec'16 has continued to solicit papers focusing on the security and privacy of mobile software platforms, usable security and privacy, biometrics, cryptography, and the increasingly diverse range of mobile or wireless applications such as Internet of Things, and Cyber-Physical Systems.

This year, WiSec received 71 complete paper submissions from around the world. Authors denoted 20 of these submissions as short papers, and no papers were reclassified during the reviewing process. There were many interesting and exciting papers. After a multiple round reviewing process, our program committee selected 13 full papers and 7 short papers for presentation and publication in the conference proceedings. These papers will be presented in a single track, along with a poster and demonstration session that will provide early results as well as mature and practical prototypes. New this year, we have made short public reviews for all accepted papers available on the conference website. Recognizing that no paper is perfect, we hope to provide the community with greater insight into the program committee's decision process.

In addition to the research papers presented at the conference, we have an exciting keynote to be delivered by Prof. Jean-Pierre Hubaux ("The Ultimate Frontier for Privacy and Security: Medicine"). Prof. Hubaux is one of the founders of WiSec.

For 2016, WiSec will be co-located with PETS, the 16th Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium. Our goal is to stimulate exchange and interaction with the privacy community. Furthermore, as part of the Security and Privacy Week 2016, nine additional conferences and workshops are taking place in Darmstadt, Germany, one of Europe's leading security research hotspots.
