The rock sanctuary is located on the coastal line, near the rocky part of the southeastern portion of the island. The rock sanctuary includes the smoothed side of the cliff facing to southeast and the area in front of it. The niches on the smoothed sides of the cliff and the rock hollows in front of the area suggest an existence of a rock sanctuary. One of the niches bear a sitted and dressed mother goddess. The floor level was destroyed since the area was used as a stone quary and as a necropolis at later periods. The sanctuary was most probably covered and was only riched by sea. The archeological material suggests that the sanctuary was in use between the Archaic and the Roman periods. The location of the sanctuary on the coast line shows a connestion between sea and the worship of mother goddess. This rock sanctuary and the other practices apparent on the eastern bays of the island may be the evidences pointing to the location of the Baccheion Island mentioned by Titus Livius.
