4081st Strategic Wing

The 4081st Strategic Wing is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with the Strategic Air Command, Eighth Air Force, 45th Air Division, based at Ernest Harmon AFB, Newfoundland, Canada. Inactivated on 25 June 1966

The 4081st SW operated [{B-52 Stratofortress]]es from Harmon AFB as a dispersal base to more difficult for the Soviet Union to knock out the entire fleet with a surprise first strike. The wing was inactivated in 1966 with the closedown of Harmon AFB.
