In ''The Amazing Spider-Man'' #700 (December 2012), Octopus learns of Parker's escape and attempts to flee the country by plane, leaving only long enough for his body to die.{{sfn|Slott|2012c|pp=4–5}} Meanwhile the Trapster uses various technologies to prolong Parker's life.{{sfn|Slott|2012c|pp=6–7}} A large electric shock delivered during the process sees Parker experience an ambiguous vision of the afterlife where he meets the people he has lost including Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben.
