Maharaja is, a widower and a barber by profession in [[K. K. Nagar, Chennai|K. K. Nagar]], livinglives with his teenage daugherdaughter Jyothi. He lost his wife during a fatal accident, in which toddler Jyothi was saved by a dustbin, which Maharaja takes back home . One day, he files an FIR at the police station because the dustbin, which he later named "Lakshmi", was robbed. As the police officers refuses by thinking it is a joke, Maharaja does not budge from the station. They begin to take the case serious once he bribes the Inspector of giving lakhs of rupees if they find the culprit. Believing that Maharaja has put an important document or large sum of money in it, the police begin their investigations.
