@Rodney Baggins: @Kaffe42: I'm actually a staff of the Tokyo Olympic games. But you two are not that, aren't you? The explanation seems like it is gossip included. I'll rewrite it this weekend. And, Korean Sport & Olympic Committee was officially informed by IOC. According to this article, IOC says, KSOC are against the facts. So, we need to fix this section. Selselumi2020 (talk)

"United by emotions" is for tokyo paralympics. "Faster,Higher,Stronger - Together " is for tokyo paralympics

The motto is United by Emotion (capital E, no s), and it's for both the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.[1] "Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together" is the new general Olympic motto (not for specific games).[2] PrimeHunter (talk) 09:40, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Essay on "don't change the name of this to 2021 Summer Olympics"

I think we need an essay on the statement that we should not change the name of this event to "2021 Summer Olympics". It should start by introducing the reason it was pushed back a year, and then it should mention the fact that it's still called 2020 to preserve the 4-year cycle. Then it should have a section labelled "it's just a name; it doesn't mean what it seems to mean" that gives some kind of analogy. A good analogy is:

Let's turn to the name of the month of December. In the ancient Roman calendar it was the tenth month; it was named after the Latin word for 10. In the later calendar it is the twelfth month, but it is still called December, not Duodecember. Likewise, this is an event of 2021 but it is called the 2020 Summer Olympics. Not the same question. Just as we don't correct December to Duodecember, we likewise don't correct 2020 Summer Olympics to 2021 Summer Olympics.
