Surfing finals

The two Surfing finals - both men's and women's were held at Tuesday, not at Wednesday as it's mentioned at event schedule.

Concerns and controversies section2

@Rodney Baggins: @Kaffe42: I'm actually a staff of the Tokyo Olympic games. But you two are not that, aren't you? The explanation seems like it is gossip included. I'll rewrite it this weekend. And, Korean Sport & Olympic Committee was officially informed by IOC. According to this article, IOC says, KSOC are against the facts. So, we need to fix this section. Selselumi2020 (talk)

Not done: It is 2020 Summer Olympics only, it was just postponed to 2021 because of COVID-19 pandemic. -ink&fables «talk» 17:48, 4 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tokyo Olympics motto

"United by emotions" is for tokyo paralympics. "Faster,Higher,Stronger - Together " is for tokyo paralympics

Wikipedia page shows wrong motto for tokyo olympics 2020. Please correct it . Piyush188 (talk) 09:07, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Piyush188: You are wrong, wrong and wrong. The motto is United by Emotion (capital E, no s), and it's for both the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.[1] "Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together" is the new general Olympic motto (not for specific games).[2] PrimeHunter (talk) 09:40, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Essay on "don't change the name of this to 2021 Summer Olympics"

I think we need an essay on the statement that we should not change the name of this event to "2021 Summer Olympics". It should start by introducing the reason it was pushed back a year, and then it should mention the fact that it's still called 2020 to preserve the 4-year cycle. Then it should have a section labelled "it's just a name; it doesn't mean what it seems to mean" that gives some kind of analogy. A good analogy is:

Let's turn to the name of the month of December. In the ancient Roman calendar it was the tenth month; it was named after the Latin word for 10. In the later calendar it is the twelfth month, but it is still called December, not Duodecember. Likewise, this is an event of 2021 but it is called the 2020 Summer Olympics. Not the same question. Just as we don't correct December to Duodecember, we likewise don't correct 2020 Summer Olympics to 2021 Summer Olympics.

Any thoughts on such an essay?? Georgia guy (talk) 23:25, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it's required. The community has settled on the current name of this page. GoodDay (talk) 06:04, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
no need to discuss of any change as consensus was reached already.--Arorae (talk) 07:50, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect content

Russian and South Korean officials took issue with a map of the torch relay on the Games' official website, which depicted the disputed Liancourt Rocks (governed by South Korea) and Kuril Islands (governed by Russia since 1945) as part of Japan.

Liancourt Rocks is officially integral part of Japanese territory, but it has been illegally occupied by South Korea. So the area is not governed by SK.

Regarding rising sun flag issue, it is just treasure hunting by South Korea, so it has never been issued internationally. if they find the design and spread the fact by its own sns, it can gratify its own pride that hurts Japan. Surprise their cultural standard. Sportsjustice (talk) 14:09, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
