:This is a unique situation, thus policy is not totally clear on this. I discussed this with another editor [[Talk:Kanye West/Archive 16#Name within the article|here]] and did not reach a consensus. The comparison to Cher is not great imo because Cher is referred to by virtually all secondary sources by that name, whereas Kanye West is referred to by his new mononymous legal name by a minority of secondary sources; the vast majority still refer to him as Kanye West, so changing all subsequent uses to "Ye" feels forced and would probably confuse a lot of readers.
