On social media, I saw a short video clip of Doris Day dancing with Gene Nelson in Lullaby of Broadway (1951). So I was tempted to changer the first sentence to read "Doris Day (born Doris Mary Anne Kappelhoff; April 3, 1922 – May 13, 2019) was an American actress, singer, and dancer." But perhaps her dancing talent wasn't sufficient. Thoughts? ThinkerFeeler (talk) 16:41, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is a difference between a person doing something, and being primarily or even well known for something. As an average film fan, I don't think that Doris Day is well known as a dancer, only as an actress and singer. This is especially relevant in the opening sentence and the WP:LEAD as a whole, which should establish the main reasons why a person is notable.--♦IanMacM♦(talk to me)17:29, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
