editI should point out that I am a West Ham fan, so please correct POV as you see fit. Saying that, I can't think of any better known football anthems (apart from the obvious "You'll Never Walk Alone") than this (even ManUre don't really have a recognisable anthem), and I don't think that's just the West Ham fan in me talking ;-) - N (talk) 00:37, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Alternative lyrics
editI think there's nothing wrong with including alternative football lyrics to the article, but they should be distinguished from the original old published lyrics. -- Infrogmation 00:53, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Hmm, a lot of us do sing the original lyrics, though the modified ones in the song may be more widely sung. I guess we are just being pedantic, but many of us (West Ham fans) are insistant that we get it right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.144.145.103 (talk) 00:03, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Copyright
editAs James Brockman died in 1967, the lyrics will still be under copyright, so I wonder if it legitimate including them here. (It's certainly interesting - I had no idea there is a verse!) I too am a Hammers fan... WillE 08:25, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Original publication was in the USA, so US copyright law applies in this case-- US copyrights expired. -- Infrogmation 18:10, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Howard Alden Version
editIt should be noted that Howard Alden arranged this tune for solo guitar and was featured in Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.46.235.74 (talk) 00:00, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Shriners Hospitals for Children
editThe "Shriners Hospitals for Children" section seems to me rather overly long and detailed, with much of it only tangentially related to the main subject of the article. I'd like to think the importance of the song for Shriners Hospitals for Children could be summarized for purposes of this article in a single paragraph or so. Other thoughts/opinions? Infrogmation (talk) 21:38, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Seems like a cut and paste job where the relevant info could be taken back to a single paragraph. Do we really want or need the background to the hospital and its creation in an article about a song?--Egghead06 (talk) 06:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
