This is a simple template that helps format Syriac text. It defines the direction as right-to-left and HTML lang property to "syc".
This template is not intended for formatting whole paragraphs, but only Syriac passages in a paragraph that may be left-to-right. (In HTML terms, it's a <span>, not a <div>.)
Usage
editIt takes one required argument which can be left unnamed or explicitly named "text". Example:
- {{syriac|ܥܰܠܝܡܳܐ}} or {{syriac|text=ܥܰܠܝܡܳܐ}}
yields:
- ܥܰܠܝܡܳܐ
It also takes additional argument which can be left unnamed or explicitely named "font". Example:
- {{syriac|ܣܪܛܐ|Western}} or {{syriac|text=ܣܪܛܐ|font=Western}}
yields:
- ܣܪܛܐ
This is the English Wikisource, Syriac <span>s are expected to be embedded in left-to-right paragraphs; therefore by default this template ends with the left-to-right marker (‎). If you want to disable it, add the argument "lrm=no":
- Without "lrm=no":
{{syriac|ܡܠܟܘܬܐ}}, {{syriac|ܫܩܠܘܬܐ}}
-> ܡܠܟܘܬܐ, ܫܩܠܘܬܐ - With "lrm=no":
{{syriac|lrm=no|ܡܠܟܘܬܐ}}, {{syriac|ܫܩܠܘܬܐ}}
-> ܡܠܟܘܬܐ, ܫܩܠܘܬܐ
