This template is used to specify a sense qualifier (a gloss) for an antonym. It should be used in place of {{sense}} in ==Antonyms== sections, to clarify that the listed terms are antonyms of the specified gloss. Consider using {{ant}} instead, which is placed directly under the appropriate sense and thus makes indicating the sense unnecessary.

NOTE: The gloss specified in parameter |1= should be the antonym of the terms following, not the synonym. This is made clear by the template inserting the words "antonym(s) of".

Do not use {{antsense}} in the following cases:

  • Outside of ==Antonyms== sections.
  • To qualify a list item with something other than a sense gloss (e.g. to qualify an antonym with a region or register), use {{qualifier}} instead.

Example

===Antonyms===
* {{as|to end work}} {{l|en|clock in}}, {{l|en|clock on}}, {{l|en|punch in}}, go [[on the clock]]

Customization

This template allows readers to customize the styles of sense glosses. Your current style is this:

Some readers, however, prefer special treatment for sense glosses and other qualifiers:

Readers can customize the styles using WT:PREFS or by editing their personal CSS files (e.g. Special:Mypage/monobook.css), as described in WT:CUSTOM.

You can also suppress the extra clarificatory text, and make this template display the same way as {{sense}}, by adding .qualifier-clarification { display: none; } to Special:MyPage/common.css like this.
