However, the abstract *instruction set* of that processor was used as the basis of the 8008 instruction set. It influenced the 8080 instruction set which, in turn, influenced the x86 instruction set; the 8080 instruction set was *not* the basis of the x86 instruction set, although I think easy translation of 8080 *assembler* code was a goal of the 8086 ISA. undo
