Pick Up Limes is a vegan platform focused on food, nutrition, and wellness, founded in 2017 by Sadia Badiei. It provides resources such as recipes, videos, articles, and a mobile application available for iOS and Android, with the goal of promoting plant-based eating and offering tools to help individuals incorporate more plant-based meals into their lives.[1][2]
History
Badiei started blogging in 2014, shortly after graduating from the University Of British Columbia and beginning her career as a dietitian in Vancouver.[3][4] During a backpacking trip to Thailand, she met her partner, Robin de Rozario, which later led her relocation to the Netherlands.[1][3][4] While Robin pursued his Ph.D. in control engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology,[5] Sadia focused on developing Pick Up Limes, creating recipes and sharing content on its website and YouTube channel. The first video on the Pick Up Limes YouTube channel was uploaded in January 2017.[3][4] After completing his Ph.D., Robin joined the team, and in 2023, the Pick Up Limes mobile application was launched.[1][4]

Awards and recognition
Pick Up Limes has garnered attention from various publications for its focus on plant-based recipes and wellness content. Badiei and Pick Up Limes have also been covered in various media outlets. Food52 profiled the platform in the article "Meet the Minimalist YouTubers Who Will Inspire You To Look At Your Stuff Differently"[9], while VegNews listed Badiei among the "Women of Color Who Are the Future of Vegan Instagram."[10]. Additionally, Tatler featured Pick Up Limes in a roundup of "7 Vegan and Vegetarian YouTube Channels to Follow.[11]
