Einsteinium(III) chloride is a chloride of einsteinium.
Preparation
Einsteinium(III) chloride is created by reacting einsteinium metal with dry hydrogen chloride gas for 20 minutes at 500 °C which crystallized around 425 °C.[1]
- 2 Es + 6 HCl → 2 EsCl3 + 3 H2
Chemical properties
The compound can be reduced by H2 to obtain EsCl2.[2][3]
- 2 EsCl3 + H2 → 2 EsCl2 + 2 HCl
