Saaral – Drops of Emotions – A celebrated record for its versatility. The title is metaphoric to the innumerous beads of rain. In the ulterior sense, it portrays each drop as an unnoticed, unexpressed emotion in one's life.

Saaral is one of the few vernacular (Hindi& Tamil) alternative pop rock band in India. The band was formed two years back (in 2007) with a motive to expose the Hindi and Tamil audience to a new genre of music. The band's intent was to deliver rock culture in a native style. "Saaral - Drops of Emotions" was released on January 17th 2009 at Madras Music Academy. The Launch was presided by Prof. Dr. P. Mannar Jawahar (Vice-Chancellor, Anna University Chennai) in the presence of Mr. Ashish Bhengra, I.P.S. (Inspector General of Police) & Mrs. Sabitha Bhengra, I.A.S. (Chief Executive Officer, Global Infrastructure Services & Solutions (TN) Pvt. Ltd.) along with Mr. Devi Sri Prasad, Music Director and felicitations was offered by Mr. Dhamu, Actor.

Theme of the Debut Album: Quotidian Emotions of a common man

Saaral wanted to create an album and write lyrics appropriately such that everyone is able to relate themselves to the songs and connect easily to what they are trying to say. Thus, came the thought to create the record showcasing lifelike emotions such as anger, melancholy, love and many more. Each song is composed and written symbolizing a particular emotion.

Band’s Debut Album: Saaral-Drops of Emotions

Starting out, the band members individually worked on the compositions and then combined as a band to share views on each of their own work. Many were modified and a lot were rejected. This was in progress even before the decision of an album was made It was after few years that they were able to compile different ideas in general and simple form to create the songs in a commercial way and to make it with what everyone likes. After the release of the album, the band members were very happy that people of all ages, from 13-60 seem to enjoy it. Everyone appreciated the blend of music. Some foreigners also sat through the concert and enjoyed the music though they didn’t understand the lyrics.

Album’s Language: Hindi and Tamil

Every song carries a script and this forms the base with which the lyrics are composed. Padmanabhan drafts the lyrics in Tamil while Thahira Shireen and Pinkesh Kumar do it in Hindi. The acuity in perceiving the thoughts that needs to be conveyed in every song and the act of expressing it with clarity, adding something more to the music, comes to them naturally. They never feel it hard to bridge the gap between conventional lyric writing and contemporary rock music.

Kangal Kaanum

Released on 10th January, 2009 through SS Music Channel.
Kangal Kaanum was the first video song of the album as it was the most rated and instantaneously appreciated number. Thus they released this music video before the album to promote the same. Surprisingly it reached many viewers in the music channel and was a hit immediately. Thanks to the viewers the band’s first music video is still being aired due to their requests.

Kanavugal

“Kanavugal”, a dreamy love song, which is the people’s favorite, is being shot in a very grand manner. Only few shots have been taken. This music video can be completed only when the band is available to come together after this current scattered period of the band.

Kathiravan

The Band has just finished shooting the band portions of the video for “Kathiravan”, a song portraying friendship. They still have a few shots to be taken with the actors who are performing in this script. They can expect this to come out next.

Vaazhvin Aemaattrum

Simultaneously, “Vaazhvin Aemaattrum”, a very dramatic sad song, is in the shooting process. It is being taken without the band in more of a documentary style. However, the lyrics of the song are maintained as the script.
