Yasin Taha Hafiz (1936) is an Iraqi poet, literary translator, and journalist. He was born in the city of Baghdad. He graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages at the College of Education in 1961. Hafiz worked as an English language teacher, then as an editor for the magazine Al-Tali’a Al-Adabiya (The Literary Vanguard), and later as editor-in-chief of the magazine Al-Thaqafa Al-Ajnabiyya (Foreign Culture). He has published numerous poetry collections, authored literary works, and translated various texts.[1][2]
Early Life
[edit]Yasin Taha Hafidh was born in Baghdad in 1936. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Baqubah, where his family had moved. He later returned to Baghdad to study English at the College of Education at its university, graduating in 1961.[3]
