Luweero (also spelled Luwero) is a town in Central Uganda. It is the main municipal, administrative and commercial center of Luweero District. The district is named after the town.
Location
Luweero is located approximately 75 kilometres (47 mi), by road, north of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city, on the highway to Masindi. The road is a busy, all-weather tarmac highway.[1] The coordinates of the town are: 00 49 59N, 32 29 58E
Overview
Luweero is one of the three municipalities in Luweero District. The other two (2) municipalities in Luweero District are:
- Bombo - Located approximately 39 kilometres (24 mi), by road, south of Luweero
- Wobulenzi - Located about halfway between Bombo and Luweero, on the Kampala-Masindi Highway.

Population
The population of the town of Luweero was estimated at 23,497 during the 2002 national census. In 2010, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), estimated the population of the town at 28,800. [2] In 2011, UBOS estimated the mid-year population of Luweero at 29,500.[3]
