{{helpme}} Can you give me some examples where an only warning for vandalism would be issued? Jack SchledererTalk Adds 02:57, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Generally I'd say attacking other users/people, the very offensive stuff, racial slurs and the like, usually warrants an only warning. --Jac16888Talk 03:01, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(Adding a bit)
Something pretty horrifically bad, but not quite instant-blockable.
For vandalism specifically, an account used exclusively for disruptive purposes could be blocked without warning, but in a borderline case, it may be worthwhile trying a 1-time warning (and then watching to see what happens). It also depends on the history. You asked for examples, so...
  • A school IP address, which had been blocked many times in the past; the last time was a couple of months ago, and I notice that, today, it's vandalized several articles but not yet had any 'new' warnings. In that case, I might try a 1-time warning. Others might block it; it's a judgment-call. Immediate blocking and adding the {{schoolblock}} template makes it more reasonable to simply block; after all, they can just sign up for an account.
  • A user with about 100 edits, mostly good, with some history of warnings for uncivil comments, suddenly vandalizing an article with 'extreme obscenities'. It would be quickly reverted, so no great harm; if they were blocked, we might lose a (mostly) valuable contributor. They might listen to the big only warning thing.
I should also emphasize, here, the Please do not bite the newcomers guidelines too.
Hope this is useful; all IMHO, of course.  Chzz  ►  03:25, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jack Schlederer. I noticed you created an RfA page some time ago. I was wondering as to what the status of that RfA might be. I think it's fair to warn you that new users are rarely successful at RfA and that the Wikipedia editing community sets very high standards for editors running for adminship. Please let me know if you still intend to run for adminship with that RfA; otherwise, I'll go ahead and delete it for you in about a week or so from today. why go?

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
