Commercial use of Image:Anthos.jpg

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Anthos.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Anthos.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Anthos.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:03, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Martis-85.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Please sign your comments to other users

[edit]

As a courtesy to other editors, it is a Wikipedia guideline to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, and WikiProject pages. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then be automatically added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info, read Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thank you. — Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 19:59, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

[edit]

I would highly suggest asking my friend User:Vert et Noir about adoption. He knows at least as much as me about the nuances of Wikipedia, and doesn't have a current adoptee. I must admit I've somewhat neglected my current adoptee, and that's something I'd like to rectify before I consider taking on anyone new. File:Icons-flag-scotland.png Canæn File:Icons-flag-scotland.png 23:08, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your first lesson: Whenever you leave a comment on any talk page, User or Article, sign your comment with four tildes like this: ~~~~. That'll put a little signature on the end, to let people know who's saying what. Vert et Noirtalk 08:21, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now, to the point. I've never adopted anyone before, but I would love to adopt you. We'll talk more soon, I have to run. Vert et Noirtalk 08:21, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Right. So first: The Adoption project suggests adding {{Adoptee|Vert et Noir}} to your user page. I don't mind if you don't, it's just a suggestion, and lets them know what's going on. I have a corresponding one on my user page.

Second: Let's start out with some history. Let's see where we are. I'd like to know how long you've been active on Wikipedia, what you've been up to (not in a creepy government way, just to get an idea of how I can help you, and how far along you are. I'd also love to know if there's anything particular that's blaring out at you, like man, I have to learn this, or something. If not, that's cool too. I'll start.

If you check my user contributions, you can see I've been active since February of this year. But I've been contributing as an unregistered user, and on friends' accounts for two or three years now. As you might be able to tell by my userpage, and hell my name, I'm mostly interested in Anarchism, and I'm hoping to start working more on the Green Anarchism page. I've found working on a page is a hell of a way to learn more about the subject. I also try to keep an eye on the Veganism article, but it's so complex, so many issues, it's hard to break your way in. I also do a lot of rather random edits. And that's about where I stand. I've been involved in a number of disputes, and know most of the ropes involved in them. Vert et Noirtalk 05:35, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I can't adopt you right now, because I don't really feel I have the time. Anyway, good luck in your future Wikipedia endeavors! Abeg92contribs 18:33, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image policy

[edit]

The basic idea behind image policy on Wikipedia, is that since Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia, which anyone can use for any purpose, changed or not, all of our images must be free for any one to use, changed or not. They cannot be copyrighted. There are many different image license templates we use to identify the legal status of each image uploaded to Wikipedia, which you can find at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags.

There is a rare exception to this rule. Sometimes, an image will not be available for an article which is free. If one cannot find a free image to use to illustrate an article, one may use a non-free image under very strict conditions, detailed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Whenever you upload a non-free image, you must provide a detailed reason for your having to use a non-free image instead of a free one. You must also use a non-free image tag.

For more on images, see Wikipedia:Image use policy. Vert et Noirtalk 04:27, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anarchism in Greece

[edit]

I'm going to go ahead and take a look at the Anarchism in Greece article. Are there any problems you've had with this article? Vert et Noirtalk 04:27, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Couple notes:

  • It's customary to provide an edit summary with each edit you make to any page. Basically, tell people what you did, by writing in the little "edit summary" box just above the "Save page" button. This is useful if you ever click the "history" tab on an article, and want to see what has been done to it.
  • I changed some of the image captions just a bit, to make them more readable for an english-speaking audience. Feel free to change them again, though.
  • I've cleared up the section headings a bit. Just as you create a new section by putting a set of words inside a pair of == equal signs ==, you can create sub-sections by adding on more pairs. Like this:

== History ==
=== Early history ===
=== Middle history ===
==== Early middle history ====
==== late middle history ====
=== Late histroy ===

This will come out like this: Vert et Noirtalk 04:46, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice :)

Now problems except the ones you point out ^^ , starting from the more lite and going down :

  • I'm in a definite need of a thesaurus : in the 17th of November I use 4 or 5 times the phrase "clashes occur".
  • I have thoughts of how to continue the article: 1rst way is to continue to the present era (i.e. after '95) and in the end have a somehow complete article , 2nd way is what I'm doing now; Adding small bits and pieces to what I have and making articles of smaller things that did not exist.

Do you think it gets to long?

  • Most of my research is from anarchist press and publications (in Greek) and aren't documented almost anywhere. Do you think these can stand as sources under scrutiny, considered that some guy (greek leftist from what he says in the discussion board) has added a totally disputed tag? I have access to a university library but from September and on... Do you personally find the article neutral?

Image permission problem with Image:Iamvlixos.PNG

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Iamvlixos.PNG, which you've sourced to a book that is claimed to have no copyright but published in 2004. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ==

File source problem with File:Marinos.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Marinos.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:37, 2 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) 14:37, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
