"Old-world charm"

When I was in school in the U.S., I was taught that the so-called "Old World" consisted of Europe, Asia and IIRC Africa, with the New World consisting of the Americas (I don't remember whether Australia was mentioned in this context). It's a highly ethnocentric term that pretends not much was going on in the Americas prior to the arrival of the white man, but that aside, since it means Asia or Europe in this context, what is really being suggested when the term "old-world charm" is used to describe this city? Colonial-style charm? Spanish-style charm? European-style charm? Let's be specific. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:06, 11 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
