For Joseph (2013), resilience is about the process of learning and adaptation, referring to the World Resources Institute that describes resilience as the ability of the people to reshape and to change condition through training, planning, or reorganization with systemic capacity building to tolerate shocks or disturbances and recover. (Ibid) Resilience is about our subjectivity, our adaptability, our reflexive intuition, our own risk assessments, our comprehensive acquisition and ultimately our responsible decision making shifting from outside concern and focus on personal abilities, and that fits an understanding of social ontology and ecological context. Crawford Stanley Holling (Brad and Julian, 2013) said conventional resilience is about calculating the ecosystem where the society has the ability to absorb changes in particular to unexpected catastrophic events and still continue living. Characteristically resilience is an emancipatory of a society that has awareness, proactively involves, and shapes to react to future realization of risk. Beck explained in details (Aradau, 2007) that present-day community have sifted from commercial societies to risk societies (Kessler, 2010) in the view of the fact that it is post-industrial, post-colonial, post-modern and post-fordist society; people have to see themselves are shaped by the awareness of irreversible risks and their transformation based on the influence of modern commercial civilization. Risk societies is based in the consciousness to deal with hazards and insecurities induced and introduced by modernization itself (Beck in Aradau, 2007). By contrast, other character of resilience is conservative and bio-political in paradigm that has deeply constructive with bureaucratic rule and a system that pushing a particular agenda. Aradau and Munser (2007;97); Lob-Guerrero 2008) mention that risk is capable of being safely regulated, it made subject to the art of governance therefore, resilience is about precautionary of global risk that could be controlled by proactive security policies, surveillance of populations and movements or circulations (Kessler, 2010). Mick Dillon and Luis Lobo Guerrero mentioned that today security practices are directed by the bio-politics where biological entities will not be protected through the implementation of traditional geopolitical subjectivity such as reactive of threats rather by preventive and proactive measures managing the potentiality of some 'risk' (ibid). Aradau and van Munster (2007) added simply that not only what we know but what we do not know are 'socially' constructed.

Multicultural define as collections of cultures in multiple contingent. It has moral value and political interests with contending challenge to equal rights in different identities. One may argue that proportion of identity never be equal in some stage of rights.

It has viewed this project of war as an operation and not as a war. At start this book has justified the war power as a violence in the name of civilisation and police power interpreted as fabrication of social order. Although war created for making law and policing order, to achieve peace and security, war has seen as disguise of “bourgeois to operate within a moral economy of order; what counts as the proper use of nature and thus nature as property, what counts as the proper use of one’s own person (labour) and time and thus propriety, and thus what counts as a proper order” (Neocleouse, 2014).

This research aims to explore the NSS of Indonesia, through postmodernist perspective (that composes symbolism, interaction, functionalism, and conflict) and fill the gap by contributing to the development of knowledge in social science. Here are questions linked to the postmodern basis of this research, with initial broad question of:
“To what extent does postmodern development in institutional and social democracy, as well as domestic and international developments in crime and terrorism influenced Indonesia’s recent military and NSS?”
These can be divided into sub-questions looking at the influences of the following on the military and NSS:
1. How have the recent institutional democratic developments over the last 20 years (including politics, and inclusive social discourse in public policy) effected the making of NSS in Indonesia?
2. How has the evolution of Crime and terrorism effected the making of NSS in Indonesia over the last 20 years?
