The aim of the study was to measure the effect of providing agricultural waste based feeding to buffalo fattening. Fifteen male buffaloes, aged between 3 - 5 years with body weight ranging between 200 and 250 kg, were randomly assigned to one of three experimental diets, namely (A) 12 kg fermented rice straw + 2.5 kg concentrates; (B) 10 kg fermented rice straw + 5 kg concentrate and (C)control diet (ration typically used by the farmer) according to completely randomised design. Formulation of feed was based on agrricultural waste locally available, i.e. rice straw and concentrates. Determination of body weight was carried out every month for four months. The results showed that the average daily body weight gain (ADG) of buffaloes in the treatment B was the highest compared to that of the treatment A and C, namely 0.8 kg/head/day; 0.6 kg/head /day and 0.3 kg/head/day, respectively. Feed conversion ratio for each treatment was 31.6 (A), 14.87 (B), and 41.3(C). In conclusion, provision of feed based on agricultural waste such as rice straw plus concentrates increased body weight gain in fattening buffaloes.

The study was carried out according to a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications for each treatment. The treatments consisted of four different mixed crop planting system, namely P0 = Corn crop 100%; P1 = Corn crop 80% + A. pintoi 20%; P2 = Corn crop 50% + A. pintoi 50%; P3 = Corn crop 20% + A. pintoi 80%. The parameters observed in this study were plant height, leaf area, and the number of chlorophyll of corn crop. The results of the study indicated that the average plant height for each treatment was P0 = 142.72 cm, P1 = 143.00 cm, P2 = 152.20 cm, P3 = 123.00 cm, respectively. The average leaf area for each treatment was P0 = 819.25 cm2, P1= 871.48 cm2, P2 = 868.44 cm2, P3 = 793.22 cm2, respectively, and the average number of chlorophyll for each treatment was P0 = 39.84 unit, P1 = 41.84 unit, P2 = 41.30 unit, and P3 = 39.63 un...

Lactic acid bacteria were isolated and cultured on De Man, Rogosa and Sharpe (MRS) media. The parameters of this study are bacterial characterization and antimicrobial activity of LAB Isolates against gram-positive and negative bacteria. LAB characterization was performed by Gram staining test, morphological test, catalase test, and fermentation type test. Microscopic observation of LAB isolated by feces showed that cocci and bacilli morphologies. The gram staining test showed Gram-positive and Gram-negative test results and the catalase test showed all LAB isolates obtained were facultative anaerobic. The results indicated that LAB M1 isolates could produce greater lactic acid with more effective inhibitory capability against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25293 and Salmonella typhimurium FNCC 0050 compared to other isolates.

This study was conducted to determine the effect of BSF larvae meal on the ratio of internal organ weight in native chickens. According to a completely randomized design, one hundred and forty one-day-old chicken (DOC) were randomly assigned to one of five treatments with four replications for each treatment. The treatment were: P0 = basal ration + 15% fish meal + 0% BSF larvae meal, P1 = basal ration + 11.25% fish meal + 3.75% BSF larvae meal , P2 = basal ration + fish meal 7.5 % + 7.5% BSF larvae meal , P3 = basal ration + 3.75% fish meal + 11.25% BSF larvae meal , P4 = basal ration + 0% fish meal + 15% BSF larvae meal . The results showed that P3 (3.75% fish meal + 11.25% BSF larvae) had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the percentage of heart weight and the percentage of the small intestine weight. Also, the treatment tends to increase the percentage of ...

However, the main problem of using rice straw a feedstuff is low digestibility due to the existence of the links between lignin and cellulose or hemicellulose. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of the application of biostarter (BS) developed from rumen bacterial of buffalo on the of the changes of the chemical composition of the rice straw under a different duration of fermentation time. The experiment was carried out in a factorial arrangement according to a completely randomized design. The first factor was different levels of BS application, i.e. rice straw without BS (a1), rice straw + 5% BS (a2), rice straw +10% BS (a3), and rice straw + 15% BS (a4). The second factor was the duration of the fermentation time, i.e., two weeks (b1) and four weeks (b2). Each treatment combination was repeated three times, giving the tot...
