This article is a contribution in order to distinguish between the so-called "al-Qantara" Roman road and the "Tarîq al-jimâl" road. The subject is discussed according to the data of written sources (Arabic and foreign documents) and medieval maps. Our method consists in analyzing the data of the traditional written sources and to cross them with the data of the maps of the travelers and the sailors of the Mediterranean. These data confirm the existence of two distinguished roads, each with its own history and function.
Key words : Djerba – Medieval roads – Sea bridge - al-Qantara – Tarîq al-Jimâl

Our work tries to demonstrate, through the information of geomorphology and archeology, that communication between Djerba and Zarzis peninsula was assured, indeed, two distinct paths: Pons Zitha and arq al-iml (Camels’ road). The current contribution is a continuation of a first study, also in press, covering the history of the two channels through textual references and information of abundant cartographic and iconographic documentation.
