Focusing on the strategies of medial translation of Watteau’s drawings in the Recueil Julienne and of early modern drawings in the Recueil Crozat, this paper argues that both drawing counterproofs and reversed prints contribute to highlighting the historical and cultural relevance of images that exist in both their possible lateral orientations.
