Nasser Maleki
Dr. Nasser Maleki, Ph.D. - WILMINGTON ISLAND - Dr. Nasser Maleki, Ph.D., age 58, died, Friday, January 6, 2012 at his residence with his family by his side. Dr. Maleki was born January 25, 1953 in Tehran to the late Lotf-Ali Maleki and Roghiye karshenas. Dr. Maleki received his BS in Physics at Shiraz University in Shiraz, Iran in 1976. He also received his doctorate in physics from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in medical physics at the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy at Harvard Medical School in 1984. He also completed post-doctoral fellowship in atomic interaction theory at the University of Nebraska. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology, prior to joining the staff at the Memorial Health University Medical Center at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Center in 1989 as the director medical radiation physics, until December 2011. Dr. Maleki was a radiation therapy physicist and assistant professor of radiotherapy at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Since 1984, he has been involved in research on treatment planning, modification and use of linear accelerators for Stereotactic Radiosurgery. Dr. Maleki is a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and associate Professor of Medical Physics at Armstrong Atlantic State University and Georgia Tech. Dr. Maleki is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Johanna Hynes- Maleki; sons, Gian Maleki, Aria Patrick Maleki, Cyrus Maleki and Sia Maleki all of Savannah; two brothers, Mansoor Maleki of Tehran and Nasir Maleki Paydar of Norawy; two sisters, Mahin Maleki of Tehran and Farzaneh Maleki of Savannah; twenty nieces and nephews also survives.
